  1. EXAMPLE:
    1) I am reading ZOMBIE HAIKU by Ryan Mecum. So far in my story, a man named Chris Lynch is describing a terrorizing experience in an airport. This scene reminds me of MacCarther Airport on Long Island. Chris describes being locked in a newstand with a woman named Barbara. They are hiding from some weird creatures/humans trying to attack them. I could picture the two characters living off the candy bars and other items of the newstand that Chris describes. I could picture the gates drawn down, protecting them, while the enemy is trying to attack.

    2. So far, my book has discussed the dead roaming around and being able to talk/write in a journal. In reality, the dead can't roam around the streets so this can not possibly be realistic fiction. I know that science fiction often provides us with mutation like creatures; perhaps these walking dead are such mutations.

    1) I am reading the book ACCELERATION by Graham Mcamee. So far in my story, a teenage boy has to work in a lost and found office 50 ft below a subway station for 2 months of his summer. He found a red and dusty journal and starts to read it. It reminds me of a gloomy, and dark area of a hotel that I once stayed at in Ocean City. It relates to the book a lot by it, fits almost perfectly the way the scene is described in the book.

    2) One way that I know that my book is a mystery novel because it, talks about a boy who finds a serial killers journal and figures out that it really is a serial killers journal after they come and get it. So, he goes to find the guy who came to get it and try's to turn him in.

  3. In my book, AUGUST, DIE SHE MUST, Stella just saw the new camp counselor with a strange man. She decides to keep it a secret. I did have to keep a big secret from my best friend and I have yet to tell her.

I can tell that this is mystery by no one knowing who the new assistant is and stella still does not know who the man was.

  4. My book is the MOCKING JAY by Suzanne Collins. Katniss is standing right in the middle of here broken down District. Standing in her old house, at her old bed. This reminds me what it must have been like at gettysburg when wherever you stand your always stepping on something/someone. I could picture myself standing in the middle of a lot of debris.

2.This could be a mystery because it is about a person who has to solve problems to try to make her way out and prove to be victorious.

1-I am reading STORMBREAKER by Anthony Horowitz. In chapter 1, Alex Rider's uncle has died in a car accdient because he was not wareing his seatbelt.Alex had lived with his uncle since his was very little. This scene reminds me of the movie Up because the old man lost his wife who was very important to him. Alex loses the most important person that he had lived with his whole life since his parents died in a plane crash right after he was born.

2- I feel that my book is mystery for many reasons. One reason is at Alex's uncle funeral, Alex sees a strange man with a gun that he has never even heared of before. At a normal funeral, no one brings weapons. Another is his uncle was always very careful so, he wants to know why this time while driving he didnt ware his seatbelt.

  7. I am reading the book LIGHTNING by Dean Koontz. So far, the book is about an eight-year-old girl named Laura Shane, who lives with her dad, Bob Shane (her mother had died in child birth). Both her and her father were in his grocery store, when a man came in and attempted to rob them and rape Laura. This scene reminded of all of the scary news you read or hear about on the T.V. of kids and adults being raped or murdered. The scenes in this book so far have been very gripping.

I know my book is mystery because in every event that happens there is always a very suspicious air to it that the author creates. Also, they're are also a few unknown characters in my book that seem to be stalking the main characters, yet you don't know anything about these suspicious people.

    1. I am reading the book ACCELERATION by Graham McNamee. In this story a 17 year old old boy gets a job assigned by his father in a dark, cold subway's lost and found many feet under ground. Upon wandering the lost and founds library he stumbles across an odd book with a blank leather cover. He finds out that this book is a journal filled with sick twisted expieriments.
The subway reminds me of my old basement. Just like the book describes the subway is just how my old basement was. Dark, gloomy, cold, and very scary.

    2. I know my book is a mystery because it is about a boy who finds a serial killer's journal in a lost and found. The boy sends out to find who the serial killer is.

  16. RESPONSE TO BRYON:
Bryon, I've also read the Mockingjay. When Katniss returns to District 12 to see the devasation, I was shocked by what had occured while she was at the Hunger Games in CATCHING FIRE. I didn't think about Gettyburg when I read that section; however, you bring up an excellent point. The same idea goes for when you walk through a graveyard. , you tend to step over and around the remmains of others, just like Katniss had to do on her visit.

    RESPONSE TO MICHALE CATALFAMO SMITH:
Michale, I think that being in a cold dark subway must be really scary especially if you find a serial killer's journal; I would be terrified. When you say it reminds you of your old basement I think your exaderating just a tad bit. But wouldn't it be creepy if the serial killer was the 17 year old boy's dad, because why would a loving dad endanger his son in a job that could lead him into frightening events?

  20. RESPONSE TO CASSIDY:
Cassidy your summary was okay but i have read some that were better. When your making a summary the most important part is the big and juicy details.Cassidy you said "Stella saw the new champ counsoler with a strange man", tell me more about that. Explain to me what the supspecious man look like, for example did he look homeless or maybe scary? Also you should have given more details about why Stella won't tell anyone when she had saw the strange man.And remember don't forget to state the authors name!!!!

  21. RESPONSE TO TRISH P.
Trisha,When I read your summary it wanted me to read your book already. It sounds really interesting. Also it is sad that the character Alex lost his uncle and his parents; something that was very important to him. Another thing is I have seen the movie UP and it does remind me of the old man and him losing his wife that was very important to him.
