Tuesday, April 12- Mystery

Answer BOTH of the following questions:

1. The main character is moving to your town. Will he or she fit in? Why or why not? How are his or her values and tastes different from -or the same as- those of your hometown?

2. List some new clues that shows your book is mystery.

  1. I beleve that Theresa would not fit in to my town because she is from Veanna(located in europe),so she would talk and posobly have a strong acceant, unless she learned english. Also in the book from what I have read so far is that she is from an old piriod of time and wares clothing that was popular in europe at the time.Example:1800's.Theresa values her family and helping in what ever ways she can.Such as getting a job, saving money that they own but secretly, and trying to figure out mysterys about her family that couild save or help them.Such as the mystery behind her fathers death. This value of hers would help her to fit in to my town because i'm sure alot of kids or people with familys would do somthing simalar to her action's.Theresa's taste in things is way different than anyone elses, besides everyone has different tast in things.Example:she like's pettie coats and poofy dresses. While other girls her age here ware sun dresses and aeropostol clothing.(fancy vs. casual).
My book gives another clue as to why it would be in the mystery section, is when you look at the cover, there is little writing on it.The writting states:THE MYSTERY OF HER FATHERS DEATH MAY LEAD TO TRUE LOVE.

  2. 1.)-IF Sam ( the main character of my book )moved into my town no sadly Sam wouldn't fit in.Sam would become the black sheep of our town, and it's mainly because he's mind reader also a water witch from northern part of california in a small town.No one in my water witches or mind reads.Sam values are different those in my hometown because he use to fishing, riding his bike on dirt roads in the countryside , and is use to being in a small little town.

2.)- a new clue that my book is a mystery is that uncle gene had gotten a envelop with a letter stating that he had won a trip to Reno,Neveada all expensives paid including a 50 dollar bill. But the thing is that nobody knows where the letter had done came from

  3. 1. I don't think Katniss would fit in our town because she is just plain crazy due to her life and the troubles she has been through. She is used to going out hunting everyday to stay alive and not used to be in walking distance of a Wal-Mart, Food Lion, the Mall, etc. She is also used to trading illegally, I don't think it is very easy from moving from hunter to the average person.

2.Some clues that show this is a mystery is the fact that Peeta is missing, taken from the Capitol and everyone in District 13 tries to save him and bust him out. Wil they succeed?

1-I feel that my main character, Alex Rider from the book, STORMBREAKER, would not fit into my hometown. Alex has had alot happened to him so far. His uncle has died and now he must take his place as a spy. Dover, Delaware is a peaceful calm town that not much happenes to thourgh out the day. Alex would want something exciting to happen to him everyday but instead his life would be like any other teen in Delaware.
2- Some new clues that my book is mystery have come up. First, men on quads are chasing after Alex with guns trying to kill but he wants to know why. Also, there is a underground lab buried into a old mine that is used to make a the new stormbreak computers. Why would a lab be buried under ground so no one could find it and why is Mr. Grin all of a sudden talking??

  5. IF the main character of my book were to move to my town, he would not fit in. This is because he has some very ood quirks and traits, because he is and autistic but highly logical person. For instance, if you were to touch him, he would freak out. He also hates the colors yellow and brown, and the amount of red or yellow cars determines how good of a day he will have.

Some new clues that my book is a mystery is that the main character is doing 'detective work.' For instance, he is questioning neighbors, finding suspects, and searching for clues as to solve the mystery of the murdered dog.

If the main character from my book ACCELERATION came to my town he would not fit in. He would not because I live in a wealthy neighborhood and he is from a poor town known as "The Jungle." His values are very different of my hometown because he comes from a really bad neighborhood where they steal and brake the law. The tastes of our two towns are different because my town is not bad and mine doesnt steal or get arrested. Another reason that the main character would not fit in because he is a delinquent and my neighborhood frowns upon that.

Some clues that I know my book is a mystery is that the main character (Duncan) tried to find out why his friend always hid his left hand in his heavy jacket pocket. Also Duncan and Vinny look into the strange journal that duncan found.

  7. The main character in my book LIGHTNING is Laura Shane. If she moved in my town however, she would not fit in very well. She wouldn't fit in because she is very overprotective of herself and her son Chris and takes way too many precautions concerning self defense while most people where I live are very easy going and not as worried about the certain dangers that Laura is. For example, Laura has a lot of guns hidden throughout her house just in case anyone tries to come and rob her or harm Chris. Also, she didn't want Chris to go to a public school and instead had him home schooled for his safety. Her values are very different from the people who live in my area because she values her family's protection but also the complete isolation from the world (mostly because her and Chris stay at their house all the time) while people in my town are more easy going.

Some clues that show my book is a mystery is that the author has left me with questions about some of the characters who are still relatively unknown but seem to play an important part in the main characters life.

RESPONSE TO CATILYN ADAMS- I totally agree with you. People would make fun of her accent in Delaware and probally would make her have no friends when she moves here. People would stare at her all the time because of her werid clothing.

  11. Dear Trisha,
I personaly would have to agree and disagree with your respons.I say that alex would be bord, but that would only be, because he is on the wrong side of town.I say that every city, state, and town has its own mysterys, action, and storys to them. For example:Nascar Lane,or creepy dark jaket hooded men that stalk you.

I think sam would fit in because he can read mind's that's cool. What if you want to know if a boy like you and he won't tell you sam can tell you for him,

  13. RESPONSE TO AMANDA:
I totally agree that Minerva would fit in. I would probaby become friends with her if she was in this town. She seems like a nice girl and if she likes to talk to her friends and go online then she would most likey fit in because thats what alot of teenagers here like doing

    Michale C:
I totally agree with you. I am reading the same book and I also feel that he would not fit in. He lives a very different lifestyle than our hometown. Also, some of the things that he does is very different than what we do.

I think the boy would fit in. This is a small place .It would be a little weird but he is a regular kid. He would not tell people he’s a mind reader. So people would talk to him like me or you ."fishing ,riding his bike on dirt roads in the countryside" that’s what you say . I ride my bike when i want to. So its not really unnormal .Or fishing people fish all the time.

  16. RESPONSE TO TRISHA P.
I agree your main character might not fit in because Dover isn't very exciting. Although my graet uncle died and I want to be a spy and I fit in pretty well. Unlike him I don't expect anything that big to happen.

i like how you gave detail about divorce/single parents and comparing that to Patrick when his mother disapered. Also I liked how you compared his mother to a missing piece of a puzzle.

one more thing please be careful of typos but besides that good work.

RESPONSE TO AMANDA.H- My main character is the exact opposite of yours. He (Duncan) has a dull personality and would definitly not fit into my town. Duncan does not fit in with anyone but the outcasts and is not the most popular person. Ducan likes to talk to his friends too though expecially when he is helping them steal something. Also duncan doesnt always do his best in school.

  19. RESPONSE TO CAITLYN ADAMS:
I do agree with you that she wouldn't fit in here because of the time period she's from and the clothes she would wear. I see most kids today wear clothes from aeropostale or holister but her clothes would be more European styled. Being from a foreign country, she may see the world in a different perspective (like celebrate different holidays, eat different foods, etc.). Also, I can connect your book with my book in that both our main characters fathers have died when they were very young. In my book, Laura had lost her dad (from a heart attack) when she was ten while in your book Theresa lost her father when she was twelve.

  20. RESPONSE TO JENNA A.:
Jenna I do agree on what you have said I think the people here are way more easy going as Laura. Like I don't think that anyone around here has guns hidden throughout their house and have their children home schooled because they want their children safe and sound. But her character does sound a little interesting.
