Thursday 4/7- Realistic Fiction

1. You board a train and discover you have the choice of sitting next to the main character or another character in the book. With whom would you choose to talk? Why? What would you like to ask the character? What would you tell him or her? (Remember, you do not need to choose the most admirable character.)

2. Please respond to a fellow classmate's ideas about their book and text connections.

  1. the person i would choose to talk to is tyray hobbs.i would like to talk to him because some times you have to talk to bullys to see what in therew head.once you get to know whats in there head its a better chance for you to get them to be nicer to other people.i would ask the person how is every thing going in there family.i would tell him the things that happen to me when i was little and how i turn out to be like i am now.

  2. Of all of the characters in the book HUNGER GAMES, I would choose to sit next to Cinna. Cinna's clever design and bedazzeling dress caused me to be in awe. I would ask him where his inspiration came from for the "Girl on Fire" dress and why he had "chosen" to be the designer for District 12, when most people steer clear of that district because of its coal mining background. I would tell Cinna that I thought he was a genius and was one of the main reasons Katniss got so many votes that night at the Opening Ceremony Interviews. I would also love to ask him to help me become a fashion designer , as that would be one of my dream jobs!

  3. 1)I am reading the book Quantim Prophecy:The Awakening, out of all the characters I have read about so far I would choose to sit next to Colin, he is a joint main character of the book and Both of his parents were once superheros. He is kidnapped from his home and has to go to a new country, America. I would ask him how he handled having to get in a car with a deliquent just to find one man that has a slight chance in helping him out. He also has superpowers so I would ask him how it feels to deal with such a life changing expierence in a short amount of time.

    2)RESPONSE TO EMILY P.:
Emily, I liked the way you were able to come up with an understandable and easy text connection that people are able to relate to. Your summary made sense but I think I would like to know more about why Huckelberry Finn was living with the old lady that was very strict. But i also liked when you used big words, made you sound very smart and know what you were talking about, well blogging about. Good Job!

  4. Out of all my characters in the book called A TASTE OF SMOKE, I would sit next to the 15 year old boy who got killed in the fire. I would like to sit next to him because I would love to ask him how he felt when he was left to die, and how he felt, when the fire was right in front of him? I would tell him that he was brave for watching out for the fire, and to warn the people when it was there, at the mill.

  5. Im reading the book TEARS OF A TIGER. If i would chosse one charater i would choose to sit next to Tyrone Mills. I choosed Tyrone because I want to ask him how did he cope with the insides of him telling him it was his fault that star basketball player Robbie had died. Also I would ask him how does it feel to have people tell u it wasn't your faut that Robbie had died but in reality it kinda was (in his mind and way of thinking.) Also I would ask him if he ever forgave him self even though he didnt mean to not drive and let them drink even though he didnt drink but yet still didnt drive them all home to safety.

  7. As I walk on to the train, changing the song on my I-Pod and then I look and those big bright blue eyes looking right at me. It takes me a minute to realize that those eyes belong to Tod Piedmont the totally dreamy british guy from the book the The Daughters. With his love of wirting, music, and sports makes him the one person I would want seat next to because I would ask him to give me writing tips which I sometimes need ,and we could make the next greatest single on the blindbroad charts with his wonderful writing skills it would make the best party song ever. The next question I would ask would be what his favirite type of music was so I would know exactly what I would have to sing such as r and b, pop, rock, jazz, and country .Then we would go start a recording and we would be best friends and I would get a job out of meeting the blue eyed boy that day on the train.

  8. Of all the Characters of the book CHAINS, I would pick Isabel, the main character. I like how no matter where she is she is daring when ever there is an oppurtunity infront of her (daring enough to NEARLY get caught). It kind of inspires me to take chances like that in my own life when i'm at risk or near danger, to look for as many advantages, risks, and chances as you can possibly get before it's too late. I would want to talk to her about what it felt like when mr. and mrs. Lockton were urgent to leave once they found out about their plan of murder to Pres. Washington was leaked. I would really want to know how she managed to build up courage to cary the plan of leaking through. I would seriously, like take notes on how to overcome fear and watch for the best oppurtunity when it comes, and how you know.

  9. My book is THE CAR by Gary Paulsen. Of all the characters in the book I would choose to sit next to Terry's mom. This is because I have some questions for her. For example, I would ask her who in their right mind would leave their kid home alone! In addition, I would ask her why she left and why she and her husband ignored Terry for most of his life. I would also tell Terry's mom that she and her husband should try talking to understand eachother. I would also tell that her she should be proud of her son because how many 14 year olds can assemble their own car. Finally, I would tell her that she should go home before Terry does something stupid.

  11. All the characters listed in my book SOMEONE TO LOVE ME I would choose to sit next to Cidney's mom Lorrain. I would ask her why she continues to put her boyfriend before her own daughter, I would ask her why she would continue to see a man who disrespects her daughter by calling her names such as "Ugly Mugly" I would tell her, If a "Man" you call your boyfriend would stoop to a childish level to call your own flesh and blood mean names, does NOT deserve to a woman such as herself. As a mother Im sure she would pick her child over her boyfriend, as my mother said she would, she says no matter what the most important people in my life are my 2 children and i would never let a man stand in between that. As should Lorrain follow in my mothers example.

1.As I borded the train, with no hesitation I would have sat next to the main character.Sense the book does not offer his name to any extent.I would ask of his name and tell him that I admire his self-esteem and hope that one day I could absorb a fraction of it.And that I play basketball too,I want him to teach me to be a better passer and handle the ball at a higher level. We both share the same drive for greatness.

  17. Of all the characters I would sit next to inthe book Holes, I would sit next to Stanley. Stanley is the only character really talked about so far in the book. I would ask stanley if He really stole those gym shoes? I would aske him about hius last name, because his last name is Yelnats, which is Stanley spelled backwards. I would tell him about the importance of telling the truth and not stealing.

  18. 1.So many interesting charicters to chose from. Out of them all i would sit next to Cap. Cap is a verry "different" kid. He's never had pizza, never seen a fight at a middle school, and has never even heard of a locker. I would have soooo many questions for him, but one i would have to ask would be "What surprises you most about middle school?" This would be verry interesting to listen to someone that has lived on a farm his whole life. If I could tell him something it would definitally be about all my experience of living in such a modern world.
